The US IRS website, repository of guidance for taxpayers, has a section called IRS Guidance in Plain English. I copied a paragraph and submitted it to a site that analyzes writing and gives results in various forms of difficulty or grade level.
Not surprisingly, the passage that I submitted was deemed “difficult” and/or “college level.”
If you are doing your own taxes, consider enrolling in a remedial English class.
